Meet Your Provider
Heather is the sole owner and practitioner of So. MD Myofascial Release Inc. She began her journey in physical therapy when she dislocated her knee playing volleyball at the age of 14. It was then she saw the gift that could be given by helping others to navigate their own healing path. Heather has worked in several physical therapy environments including acute care, skilled nursing care, aquatic physical therapy, and outpatient orthopedics. It wasn't until she took her first Myofascial Release course in 2009 that she truly found her gift and her path.​​

After finding her spark, Heather felt the need to restore the patient to the patient care process. All too often the insurance companies dictate the care a patient receives, instead of the licensed provider working with them. The drive to place the patient first is what prompted Heather to open her physical therapy practice in October 2011.
Heather's knowledge base is not just built on her work and educational experience, but also on her personal journey and recovery from: knee dislocation, shoulder dislocation, shoulder reconstruction surgery, neck surgery and extensive abdominal surgery. It is through these experiences that she knows there is immense healing potential waiting to be tapped within each of us with the right touch and technique. That is why she chose to extend her skill set beyond traditional physical therapy into the realms of Myofascial Release, CranioSacral Therapy and Daoist Stone Medicine. She brings all of these tools to the treatment room to help people achieve their own transformation, offering a unique opportunity to heal from their histories and injuries.

Certified Stone Medicine Pracitioner
Heather has competed and repeated the two certification courses in Daoist Stone Medicine through the Upper Clarity School in Ashville, NC. She continues her studies through various masterclasses, lectures offered by the school and her own independent study.
2009-Present
Expert Myofascial Release Practitioner
All courses of study directly pertaining to the Myofascial Release Approach as founded and taught by John F. Barnes, PT. Heather has completed over 450 hours of training and repeats courses to maintain, further develop, and refine her skilled touch and treatments.
1995-2000
Bachelor of Science
Master of Science
Heather attended Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. Her Physical Therapy program was a compressed 5 year program including summers and 4 clinical rotations. She sat for her board exam and obtained her physical therapy license in December of 2000.
